Haverford grew up around its 1880 Main Line rail station, and its Gilded Age homes, stone colonials and twins near Haverford College still carry wiring from many eras. JDV Electric helps Haverford homeowners rewire, upgrade panels and add capacity with licensed electricians.
Haverford spans parts of Lower Merion and Haverford Townships, and many of its homes are 90 to 140 years old with electrical systems updated one project at a time.
Whether you are preparing a Haverford home for sale, restoring an older house or adding an EV charger, JDV Electric provides the residential services you need.
Older Main Line homes rarely fail without warning. A small change in how your lights, outlets or panel behave is worth a professional look.
These signs can point to failing wire, overloaded circuits or an aging panel. JDV Electric can inspect your home and explain what needs attention now and what can wait.
Haverford sits on both sides of the Delaware and Montgomery County line, with plaster walls, stone construction and landmark homes throughout. We plan work around original details, coordinate with the right township on permits and serve Haverford from our nearby Lansdowne office.

I contacted JDV to install a 50 amp line for an electric range. The line had to pass behind a 13' set of built in cabinets and wooden countertop that could not be moved. The cabinets were on a cement slab at the back of our row home. There was a slight access on one side of the slab through the basement. It seemed a monumental task to me. Piro (electrician dispatched by JDV) was on time to appointment. He was friendly, well-motivated and professional in all our interactions. I felt clear at every step along the way as to the work being done and why. There was no pressure to upsell on options. Piro stayed in contact with his management team along the way. The work was completed in a timely fashion on the first trip. The work was done well and with a guarantee. The office called to confirm my satisfaction with the work.

We handle residential electrical repairs, panel replacement and upgrades, whole-home rewiring, knob-and-tube replacement, EV charger installation, surge protection, inspections, smoke and CO detectors, and indoor and outdoor lighting.
Yes. Haverford spans both, and when a project needs a permit we coordinate it with the township your home is in. We also serve nearby Havertown, Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Wynnewood and Gladwyne.
It depends on its condition and how it has been modified. Knob-and-tube has no ground, was not built for modern loads and is often spliced into newer wiring. An inspection shows how much is active and what to replace first.
It depends on the size of the new panel, your existing service, the number of circuits and whether the utility connection needs work. We inspect your setup and give you a firm price before work begins.
Yes. We inspect panels, wiring, outlets and safety devices, and we correct code issues a buyer’s home inspector flags so your sale can move forward.
In most cases, yes. We fish new wire through existing cavities and use small, planned access openings instead of opening whole walls. Some patching is usually needed, and we explain where before work starts.
Often, yes. It depends on your service size, panel space and current load. We check all three and tell you whether the charger fits as is or needs a panel upgrade.
It depends on the type of service and our schedule that day. Book online or call, and our team will give you the next available appointment. Same-day service is often available.
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM. If you smell burning or see sparks, turn off the main breaker if it is safe to do so, and call PECO for outages, downed lines or meter problems. Then contact us so a licensed electrician can find and repair the cause.
